Born in Czechoslovakia in 1919, Vaclav Nelhybel studied in Prague and in Switzerland, and after WWII was the first Music Director of Radio Free Europe. He came to the U.S. in 1957 and remained here until his death in 1996. He was a teacher, conductor and lecturer, but foremost for him was composing.
